Jamie Hedger Bio

A Journey Through Acupuncture and Holistic Healing

Jamie Hedger’s journey into the world of acupuncture began with a series of conversations that sparked a profound interest in the interconnectedness of the body and mind. This curiosity was kindled by a family friend, a graduate of the Leamington College in the ’70s, who shared the pivotal idea that our emotional state is inextricably linked to our physical health.

Intrigued by this simple yet profound concept, Jamie initially contemplated studying in America, but ultimately chose to attend the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) in East Grinstead. He changed colleges after 2 years to study at the Leamington College (CTA).

By doing so he did meet the founders of the 2 pioneering acupuncture colleges in the U.K. at that time, Dr. Van Buren and J.R. Worsley. This provided understanding of the diverse teaching methods in the field, Namely 5 Elements, TCM, Stems and Branches & more.

Jamie’s career flourished as he became an acupuncturist, teacher, and clinic supervisor at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA), where he spent many years helping to nurture future practitioners.

In 2018, Jamie’s journey took him to Brighton, where he founded his own college. Recognizing the needs of students who had already undertaken extensive studies, he offered a condensed course in acupuncture, providing a more direct path to practice.

The college evolved and relocated to Bath in Somerset in 2011, reflecting Jamie’s adaptability and commitment to growth in his field. Throughout his career, Jamie has been more captivated by the human, emotional, and ultimately spiritual aspects of acupuncture than by the technical details or research-based approaches (useful though they can be). He views acupuncture not just as a medical practice, but as a medium for healing, personal growth, and development.

Jamie Hedger’s approach to acupuncture underscores his belief in it as a method of healing and helping people, as well as a tool for personal and communal development through the theory and practice of acupuncture.
